Report from "Sex and the City" Movie Premiere in NYC!

Here’s a little feedback on the Sex and the City movie premiere last night from my good friend, Dr. Diana Kirschner (see photo on right) who was there:

"I had a blast on the pink (not red) carpet—Sarah, Kim, et. al were gorgeous and gracious. Sarah (see photo below) wore a flowing gray silk goddess gown with a train, (that I unfortunately managed to step on as she was rushing in to the theater!). There were fans for blocks around Radio City where it was happening and paparazzi from all over the place, of course. Jerry Seinfeld, Mary J. Blige, Edie Falco and so many more of my favorites came through. The movie has everything we all loved about SATC. It was very moving and at one point made me teary! The fashion was to die-for—especially a series of bridal gowns that were over-the-top glamour. And of course the shoes…."

What’s Your "Sex and the City" Dating Type?

I met Dr. Diana Kirschner in LA at the MEGA Book Marketing Conference in March. She is a realtionship expert who has been featured on the Today Show. To encourage our enthusiasm for the Sex and the City moive premiere, Dr. Diana has developed the following dating patterns quiz to help you identify which Sex and the City character you most resemble when it comes to dating. Read below!

What’s Your Dating Type? What kind of Sex and the City girl are you?
By Diana Kirschner, Ph.D. - Quiz at http://www.mydatingpatterns.com/

There are four common Deadly Dating patterns that single women struggle with: Crumbs, Chase Me, Not Perfect-I’ll Pass and Safety Net. The Sex and the City characters, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, are good examples of women who dealt with these self-sabotaging patterns. The characters transformed their unique patterns in order to develop love relationships. Each Deadly Dating pattern reflects specific love relationship challenges and triumphs that many single women face. Here are the four types:

The Crumbs Deadly Dating Pattern (like Carrie)
1. Accepting seductive & wonderful treatment from a guy who is ultimately out of reach & afraid of commitment (Mr. Big)
2. Fantasizing about & falling for men who put her second, behind work or other women (the Russian)
3. Cheating on a man who really loved her (Aidan) and pushing him away

The Chase Me Deadly Dating Pattern (like Samantha)
1. Endlessly claiming she did not really want to have a relationship
2. Leaving lovers & moving on for no apparent reason
3. Fearing intimacy (Smith holding her hand in public!) and commitment

The Not Perfect—I’ll Pass Deadly Dating Pattern (like Charlotte)
1. Fussy and a perfectionist
2. Almost passed on Harry Goldenblatt, a man who was good husband material but balding & unpolished. (refused to go to beach party with him unless he had his back waxed)
3. Judgmental and constricted about sexuality

The Safety Net Deadly Dating Pattern (like Miranda)
1. Afraid of being alone & pessimistic about her odds of meeting a great guy
2. Dating guys she feels are beneath her
3. Attracted to a man only if other women are interested in him or he’s left her (Steve)

Take Dr. Diana's special quiz and find out which Sex and the City pattern you may have at http://www.mydatingpatterns.com/

Last Stop Shopping in NYC!

On Monday, we headed back to NYC to catch our flights home. Betsy wanted to make one last stop at her favorite NYC boutique, Purdy Girl (www.purdygirlnyc.com). With our giant suitcases rolling behind us, we made our way to the village so Betsy could shop one last time before we left. Although exhausted, we cannot wait to get together again. We talked about San Francisco....maybe we will see you there!

Casey Wohl - Girls Lunch at NYC's Alto

During our time in the city, we stopped by Alto for an amazing birthday lunch for Christina. The staff was terrific and Michaelangelo kept us thoroughly entertained. The food was delicious! If you are in NYC, be sure to check our Alto (www.altorestaurant.com). Thank you Tom Black for this wonderful recommendation.

Casey Wohl Gets Away to Sunset Beach

On Sunday, we ventured to Sunset Beach, which is located on Shelter Island. This is the hotspot to watch the beautiful sunset on Sunday afternoons. Sunset Beach is an initmate, boutique hotel with only 20 rooms that shares the same owner as the Chateau Marmont. Adjacent to the hotel is the popular bar and outdoor restaurant, which is a great place to dine with a fantastic view.

Casey Wohl Attends Socialife Magazine Party in the Hamptons

On Saturday night, we attended the Socialife Magazine Party. There were several reality stars there, including Whitney Port from MTV's The Hills and Alex McCord from Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City.
Champagne, martinis and delicious appetizers were served to the "Who's Who" of the Hamptons. We had a great time, especially when Liz borrowed Gerard's flute to play a tune for everyone there. Good times!

Casey Wohl Shops Southampton Village

Earlier today, we took a taxi to the Southampton Village. We ate lunch at 75 Main, along Main Street, then browsed the shops along Main Street and Jobs Lane. This is a quaint shopping area with unique boutiques and outdoor seating at several restaurants. A great place to spend the day with your girlfriends.
We discovered a fabulous designer consignment store, Collette. She has several clothing and home decor consignment stores in Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton. Be sure to visit her website at http://www.colletteconsignment.com/.

Casey & the girls at DUNE Southampton

We left NYC Friday evening and arrived in the Hamptons on Friday around 9:30 PM. We are staying in Southampton, so our first stop was a bar/night club called DUNE (www.dunesouthampton.com). While very unsuspecting from the outside, the place was filled with people starting the holiday weekend. We had a great Girls Night Out (GNO) and decided that what happens in the Hamptons, stays in the Hamptons.....

"Horniest" Place in New York

Stk (www.stkhouse.com) is a fabulously trendy restaurant in the meatpacking district that specializes in amazing steaks. Behind the bar is a huge arrangement of white horns set off by lights that make for a fantastic visual (see photo). We decided this must be the "horniest" place in NYC. A great place for dinner and drinks. I recommend the White Cherry Martini.....awesome!

Girls Getaway to the Hamptons

I am so excited about my Girls Getaway to the Hamptons. I leave tonight and will spend the night in NYC. Then tomorrow, it's off to the Hamptons. Celebrities, huge vacation homes, and summer beach parties are just a few of the things that come to mind when you envision a Girls Getaway to the Hamptons. The Hamptons refers specifically to the towns of Southamption and East Hampton on the South Fork, Suffolk County, NY on the east end of Long Island. This strip of Atlantic coast on Long Island's eastern end has long been a favorite summer escape for city residents. Stay tuned for updates during the trip!

Casey Wohl Meets Travel Channel's Samantha Brown

I was thrilled to meet my favorite TV travel hostess Samantha Brown during her visit to Orlando. Samantha is best known for her work on several programs on the Travel Channel.
She said she is always asked how she landed "the best job in the world." With a background in musical theater, she never dreamed she'd be a TV travel host. In 1999-2000 the Travel Channel was looking for a travel hostess, and Brown was chosen after a series of auditions. In her role as host she introduces viewers to vacation destinations, hotels and vacation homes in the U.S. and around the world, and explores the locations and activities these destinations offer.
Be sure to see her upcoming series Weekend Getaways.

Casey Wohl Attends Orlando Fringe Festival

On Saturday, Brandi and I attended the 17th Annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, which is taking place May 15-26 at Loch Haven Park. This festival is the longest-running U.S. Fringe Festival and is founded on the concept of offering completely uncensored theater, music, dance and art to kids and adults. One hundred percent of the proceeds return to the artists.
Fringe festivals began in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1947 when several performers and artists were not invited to participate in the Edinburgh International Festival. They decided to produce work on their own and stage it literally "on the fringe" of the established festival. The concept was a success and soon became more popular than the original festival.
For more information on the Orlando Fringe Festival, visit www.orlandofringe.org.

The Police Concert in Orlando!

Brandi and I had a great Girls Night Out (GNO) on Friday. We saw The Police in concert at the Amway Arena. All three original members performed and put on a fantastic show. Formed in 1977, The Police have had a string of hits over the years, including Message in Bottle, Roxanne, Every Breathe You Take, Don't Stand So Close to Me, and Wrapped Around Your Finger. This was an excellent concert and a fun GNO!

Casey Wohl & Halfway to Hazard

I was thrilled to see my friends Chad and David, members of the Nashville-recording group Halfway to Hazard, open for Tim McGraw last night. These Kentucky guys are great performers and songwriters and are sure to be at the top of the country music charts soon.
If you like country music, be sure to check them out at www.halfwaytohazard.com or at a Tim McGraw concert near you!

Happy Mother's Day!

A very happy Mother's Day to all mothers. It was so good to see both my grandmothers and my mom yesterday, as well as discussing plans for our next girls getaway.
I'm sending my friend Candice very special Mother's Day wishes. Candice's youngest child, 7-month-old Will, is in the hospital, and I know she spends a lot of time there with him. I wish Will a speeding recovery and Candice a much-needed girls getaway.
Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you to Erica Matyas!

Many thanks to Erica Matyas (Photohound) for taking pictures of one of my very best girlfriends, Zoe, at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando. Erica did a great job of capturing Zoe's personality and quickly realized that Zoe doesn't consider herself a dog - she is convinced she's a person. Thank you for capturing these terrific memories!

Don’t Forget Your Favorite Girlfriend – Mom!

Mother’s Day is May 11, so don’t wait until the last minute to find a gift for the special mother in your life. Whether she is your mom, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt or friend, a girls’ getaway is the perfect gift, especially for those who want to give her something unique that she will enjoy and remember. Here are a few suggestions:
Help Her Fulfill Her Dreams
Find out what she has always wanted to do, maybe learn to sail, surf or belly dance? Maybe she has always wanted to take a cooking class, salsa lessons or ride in a hot air balloon. Find out what she has always dreamed of doing and make it a reality for her!
Plan a Girls Getaway or Girls Night Out
Give the special mother in your life something to look forward to, like a fabulous girl’s getaway. Plan a shopping vacation, wonderful cruise or a local weekend retreat. For those busy women who cannot getaway overnight, plan an all girls dinner date or book a yoga or pilates class for your special someone and her friends.
Send Her to Get Pampered or Plan a Makeover
Every woman enjoys time at the spa. Purchase a gift certificate for a massage, facial, manicure or pedicure. Give her the opportunity to indulge in the ultimate relaxation. A makeover is also a great gift for the mom who doesn’t have a lot of time for herself. Make an appointment for her to consult with a beauty expert, buy new make-up and get great beauty tips. If she has small children, offer to babysit and send her out for the day, evening or overnight.
